National Philanthropic Trust Access Grants for PATH Intl. Center Members and Premier Accredited Centers
PATH Intl. announces funding opportunities for PATH Intl. Centers available through the generous support of the National Philanthropic Trust. These funds will be awarded through a competitive grant process to both PATH Intl. Center Members and Premier Accredited Centers (PAC). The purpose of the funding is to improve access to equine-assisted services providing financial support for credentialing and training leading to credentialing as well as financial aid for EAS participants at the full program cost up to $150 per lesson/session.
Recipients of the National Philanthropic Trust Grants are required to submit a National Philanthropic Trust Final Grant Report within one year of the grant award.

Application Details
This grant will be used to improve access to equine-assisted services by providing financial support for instructor credentialing and training leading to instructor credentialing. As well as financial aid for EAS participants at the full program cost up to $150 per lesson/session.
PATH Intl. Center Members are eligible to receive $3,500.
($1,000 may be used for financial aid)
PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Centers are eligible to receive $6,000.
($1,000 may be used for financial aid)
The Access Grant Program will accept applications beginning on March 2, 2026. Grant funds will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis for qualified applicants. Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible to ensure consideration while funds are available. The deadline for application is June 30, 2026, however all funds may be distributed prior to the deadline.
Funds received may be used for the following trainings and certifications:
- PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (PATH Intl. CTRI®)
- PATH Intl. Advanced Therapeutic Riding Instructor Certification
- PATH Intl. Master Instructor Certification
- PATH Intl. Equine-Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL)
- PATH Intl. Equine-assisted Learning Microcredential
- PATH Intl. Driving Certification
- PATH Intl. Interactive Vaulting Certification
- American Hippotherapy Association courses
- American Hippotherapy Certification Board (AHCB) Certification and AHCB Hippotherapy Clinical Specialist certification for physical, occupational and speech therapy professionals
- The HERD Institute Equine-Assisted Learning or Psychotherapy Certifications

The National Philanthropic Trust Access Grants are open to all PATH Intl. Center Members and Premier Accredited Centers in good standing.
These funds are to be used to increase access to equine-assisted services through financial support for instructor credentialing and training leading to instructor credentialing. By increasing the number of PATH Intl. credentialed professionals, access to EAS programs will increase, thereby reducing the overall number of participants on a center’s waitlist and increasing the number of individuals served. Up to $1,000 of the grant award may be used to support financial aid for EAS participants at the full program cost up to $150 per lesson/session
- Center Members – Requests of up to $3,500.
($1,000 may be used for financial aid) - Premier Accredited Centers – Requests of up to $6,000.

- Must currently be and remain a PATH Intl. Center Member or Premier Accredited Center in good standing during the grant term
- Complete and submit the application
- Provide center’s financial documentation
- Sign compliance document

The precise number of grants available is variable based on the number of applications received and amounts granted.
PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor (CTRI®), PATH Intl. Advanced Instructor, PATH Intl. Master Instructor, PATH Intl. Equine-Specialist in Mental Health and Learning (ESMHL), PATH Intl. Driving Certification, PATH Intl. Interactive Vaulting Certification and PATH Intl. Equine-assisted Learning Microcredentials. Consideration will also be given to American Hippotherapy Association courses, American Hippotherapy Certification Board (AHCB) Certification, AHCB Hippotherapy Clinical Specialist certification for physical, occupational and speech therapy professionals, as well as the HERD Institute Equine-Assisted Learning or Psychotherapy Certifications.
Each grant application will be reviewed using objective criteria based upon:
- Completeness of application
- Details of request and intended use of funds
- Case for support
- Overall impression of the application, center and potential for sustainable impact
- Impact on access for services
- Impact on center sustainability
- Anticipated outcomes and evaluation tools used to measure success
- Grant reports will give detailed examples of the impact of these funds specific to improving overall access to EAS. The use of Key Performance Indicators, (KPI), center metrics such as increase in the number of credentialed professionals, increase in the number of clients or participants served, or other objective criteria are required.
- Periodic survey responses specific to the services offered and numbers served.
- A final report is required within one month of the total grant award period.
- Recipients will be required to sign a grant agreement.
- Recipients will be required to provide acknowledgment as directed by PATH Intl.
- Applicants will receive notification within 45 days of application submission.
- Funds will be distributed within 90 days of application submission.
