This month's post comes from a member asking for help from the Administration Community, where she posts:

Our facility was recently notified that our lease will not be renewed in May. So we are now searching a new site for our operation.

One idea we are exploring is possibly considering sites that would offer the opportunity to have boarders and perhaps riding instruction as a way to help offset expenses for the new site.

Many of the properties in our area that have the amenities we would like are larger than we need to afford on our own.

So I'm hoping to get some idea from centers that have this model and how it works. Does having boarders/riding instruction actually provide addl. income to offset some site and/or program operation costs? What are the pros and cons?

If this is a feasible model, we may even explore the possibility of getting a small business loan and trying to purchase a site. But we need to first find out if this IS a feasible model.

Any feedback or thoughts about this model would be greatly appreciated!

Equine Tips

horse and riderA Discussion on Athletically Induced Discomfort
By Tamarack Hill Farm and members of the PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee

Let's say we jog in place--we humans. Now let's say we squat down while jogging in place. Try it, it hurts more. Now squat lower, jog higher. It hurts still more, we pant more, we struggle more. We are feeling the effects of athletically induced discomfort.

Now imagine that you are sitting on a horse being ridden (correctly) back to front. Read more

The PATH Intl. Equine Welfare Committee is making a commitment to refine and deepen our perspective of equine well-being to include the physical, mental and emotional well-being of our wonderful four-legged partners. Join us on this journey. Please add your thoughts on the PATH Intl. Community Connections page. It is our desire that these tips start a further discussion on Community Connections. Any thoughts? We appreciate hearing from you!
